OUR STORY

Front Door Communities began as a ministry of First Presbyterian Church of San Jose, rooted in a commitment to serving vulnerable individuals in the downtown San Jose community.

In 2017, Front Door Communities became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allowing the mission to continue and grow beyond the church. Today, programs such as Lifted Spirits and Lunch Bag continue to provide care, connection, and practical support to vulnerable men and women in downtown San Jose.

Although First Presbyterian Church closed its doors in June 2019 due to declining membership, its legacy of compassion and service lives on through Front Door Communities. Our mission continues at 81 N. 2nd Street in downtown San Jose, where we remain committed to meeting people with dignity, compassion, and hope.

The doors may have changed, but the mission continues.
